No.1 GAS GAS UK Enduro Rider Alex Snow makes his debut No.1 GAS GAS UK Enduro Rider Alex Snow makes his debut

New GGUK signing Alex Snow had his first race of the season taking place in Bassella northern Spain in the foothills of the Pyrenees.
It was a great way to shake down the cobwebs and start to gel with the new GG Factory Team.

Saturday started with a 1 lap practice of the 70k course, followed by a 5 lap Extreme prologue in the later afternoon. Being Alex’s first ever extreme race and not, shall we say “his forte” he set off with the intentions do give it a 100% as always. He made a reasonable start getting through the first man-made obstacles ok, but as he reached the first very extreme rock garden Snow hit a obscured rock forcing the chain to derail. After finally getting it out but nearly 2 laps down, he continue with the race. Only for the chain to derail a further 2 more times due to the damaged rear sprocket and chain guide caused in the first incident. Alex completed the second lap but unfortunately didn’t place a good result considering the circumstances.

After the poor prologue result this meant Alex was on the second row for Sunday’s main cross country race.
Although he made the best of the start, 5 corners in was collected in a incident causing a pile up. Snow frantically got going keen to get to the front before reaching the tight forest single track.
After 1 hour and 20 minutes at the 49k mark Snow was up to 8th place and making excellent progress, but as he reached the highest, most remote part of the course as was pushing hard on a long climb he seized the bike, maybe a too lean carb setting and lack of 2T experience forced the piston to lock up.

Unfortunately this meant Snow was out of the race and had to wait for 3 hours before being recovered by a marshal.

“Overall it’s been a mega race even if the results where a disaster. Better things like this happen now than in the season but was a great way to meet all of the new team and start to work with them.” Commented Snow

Not the dream start for Alex but just one of those things i guess and we're honest about it....'That's Racing' !

Congrats to GAS GAS winner Christophe Nambotin and also P4 to Johnny Aubert.

Alex will now concentrate on his preparation for the first British Enduro Championship in 3 weeks time at Bovington, near Dorchester.
